MAPP has developed a gay cultural sensitivity training for substance abuse counselors and other personnel so these prevention programs can better serve the gay community.
The 2-hour training includes a g/l/b/t community description and history, community resources, cultural issues, language, special issues, information on gay sexuality and relationships, and methods to recognize and correct homophobia. The program provides role-playing and other exercises that help strengthen the prevention agency’s ability to better serve their gay, lesbian and bisexual clients.
