In 1997, MAPP created posters and print advertising that were reflective and inclusive of g/l/b/t culture.
These media include a series of four different posters and print ads that convey the message of the harmful effects of AOD abuse in the gay community, and the positive aspects of healthy and sober living. One poster/ad targets men, one targets women, one targets g/l/b/t youth, and the last is a more general poster appropriate for each population.
In addition to the posters and print ads, a postcard complements the youth poster. Postcards are advantageous because their size allows them to be easily carried and shared from teen to teen. They can be posted in lockers or bulletin boards, and can be kept with books. Postcards also provide an additional opportunity to inform the target population: resources for gay/lesbian support services and substance abuse programs can be listed on the reverse side of the photograph image.
All marketing and educational materials have been developed with assistance and input from local g/l/b/t organizations, gay media, community leaders, and alcohol and substance abuse program personnel. These materials are high-quality, and have been produced with a professional graphic designer and a professional photographer.
Four print ads that complement the posters are included in various sizes for placement in your local g/lb//t newspapers and magazines. All materials are available with a blank space for your agency to insert your name and phone number.
