Poly Bags Are Taken for Granted, but What Would Life Be Like Without Them?
When we speak of poly bags we’re talking about bags made from polyethylene. This substance was invented in 1898 by a German Chemist by the name of Hans von Pechmann. He actually created the first polyethylene by accident while heating diazomethane. Little did he know that polyethylene would become arguably one of the most important substances of modern society.
When you consider the wide range of use of poly bags alone, it would be difficult to imagine life without them. They are used across a wide array of industries for multiple applications. Poly Bags are also heavily used by ordinary people in their homes every day. Poly bags are probably most often used as garbage bags, a multi-billion dollar industry in and of itself. But they are also great as food bags.
Many poly bag sellers promote the idea that their poly bags are “100% Virgin polyethylene” meaning that they are not made from recycled materials, and thus are more pure and have greater structural integrity.
