of Metro Detroit
Wonderful Animals Giving Support
A Non-Profit Charitable Organization
What Is W.A.G.S. of Metro Detroit?
W.A.G.S. is a non-profit charitable organization, which is designed
to keep people with HIV/AIDS and their companion animals together.
W.A.G.S. assists persons with HIV/AIDS in keeping, feeding, and caring
for their pets when extended hospital stays, physical exhaustion or
daily expenses seem insurmountable.
Why Are Pets So Important to People with HIV/AIDS?
Many of us know the comfort and pleasure we receive from our own animals.
Pets are very important for our health and emotional wellbeing. For
people with AIDS, the psychological and physical health benefits of
having pets are very significant. In addition to providing companionship
and consistency, pets give their owners pleasure, joy, comfort, and
unconditional love, these commodities are often in short supply for
people with HIV/AIDS.
What does W.A.G.S. do?
Provides pet food and supplies at no cost.
Provides foster homes for pets when their owners are
in the hospital.
Provides veterinarian referrals and discount fees.
Provides educational information, including "safe
pet guidelines" to pet owners.
Informs the community about the healing benefits of
pet ownership for people with HIV/AIDS.

can use our services?
